2 Reading Plans for Studying Psalms in 1 Month (with Free Download)
The Book of Psalms covers it all. Joy. Sorrow. Triumph. Trial. Elation. Frustration. Praise. Lament. You name it, Psalms covers it. As I write this (in late-2020) our society is feeling all of these emotions – and a few thousand more! I’m going to spend the next month “soaking in the Psalms.” I’d like to invite you to join me.
As I was creating this plan for the BibleLife Community™, I realized that I needed to make it accessible for “some days” Bible readers and “every day” Bible readers.
So I created two plans and put them on one page.

Plan 1 – For “Some Days” Readers
This plan simply breaks everything up into equal readings spread out over four weeks. Since many of the Psalms are long and others are very short, the breakdown is less divide-150-psalms-by-4 and more read-this-amount-each-week.
- Week 1 – Psalms 1-38
- Week 2 – Psalms 39-74
- Week 3 – Psalms 75-110
- Week 4 – Psalms 111-150
Three tips to make the most of this plan:
- Read Psalm 78 and Psalm 119 on their own days. They’re both pretty long (and awesome)!
- At the beginning of each week, look at how many pages that week’s section covers. Divide that by the number of days you plan to read. That will make each daily reading approximately the same length.
- Plan your reading for five (or fewer) days. That way, you’ll have some built in buffer for catching up if “life happens.” If you end up not needing the buffer, you’ll be able to go back re-read some of the Psalms that were particularly meaningful, encouraging, challenging, or comforting.
Plan 2 – For “Every Day” Readers
The plan below is for a month that has 31 days. You’ll notice that Day 4 and Day 21 only have one Psalm. That’s because they’re both quite long.
If you’re adapting this plan for a month with 30 days, simply combine Days 21 and 22. That accounts for reading Psalm 78. While it is a longer Psalm, it’s not even close to being as long as Psalm 119. I would always encourage you to keep Psalm 119 on it’s own day.
