It appears you have found my "About" page. The super short version is that I'm a husband to the coolest woman on the planet and a dad to the three coolest kids on the planet.
I'm also an author and speaker, with a passion for helping people read, study, and enjoy the Bible. Finally, I am a messaging coach who helps entrepreneurs, teams, and C-level leaders simplify their messages and deliver them well.

Family
Kari and I met at a ministry conference when I was a youth pastor. (She was a leader for another church...not a kid!)
We've been married for 25 years and Sarah, Caleb, and Hannah joined us along the way to complete the Ferrin Five. We love doing pretty much anything outside - especially if it's near a lake. We laugh a lot, eat a lot, play games a lot, watch movies a lot, and enjoy each other...a lot.
Our family extends beyond those who bear our last name. We have many "hijos y hijas" in the Dominican Republic. This is a picture of some of them.
To say I'm blessed might very well be the understatement of the year.
Ministry
Shortly after college I was invited to be a youth pastor and worship leader at a small church plant in Tacoma, WA. During the six years I was at Hope Covenant Church, I learned more from the students and their families then I ever taught them. I developed my passion for the Word during my time there.
In the middle of that season is when I met Bruce Kuhn. He was the first person I ever saw "perform" a book of the Bible. He encouraged and challenged me to soak in large chunks of Scripture.
Then came March 3, 1996. That was the first time I stood on a stage and presented the Gospel of John for the very first time. Well over two decades later, and I still feel most at home on a stage helping people realize that the Living Word of God is a reality...not a phrase.
Presenting word-for-word Scripture expanded into speaking about how to study the Bible relationally...not informationally. Speaking expanded into writing books and blog posts. Writing expanded into the Relational Bible Study™ Video Course (my #1 resource). That course has expanded into the BibleLife Community™ - the private, online community where we read, study, and discuss the Bible together.
I can't wait to see where God "expands" next!
Messaging
Over the years of speaking and writing, I discovered that I deeply enjoyed helping other people craft their messages. More specifically, I love helping leaders, teams, and entrepreneurs simplify their message and deliver it well. My mission and the name of my company is Simply Communicate.
The end result:
- They save time.
- They increase confidence and satisfaction in their job.
- They run better meetings, write fewer - and better - emails, and deliver better speeches and presentations.
I utilize a 4-step system - called the Complete Communication System™ - that is completely scalable and applicable to every communication scenario, written or spoken.
